Sérgio de Freitas Costa
He holds a degree in Business Administration from the Getulio Vargas Foundation (SP) (1983) and a Law Degree from the USP Law School (1986). LL.M. by the University of Michigan Law School (1991). He studied negotiation and dispute resolution at Harvard University (1991) and at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management (Northwestern University), both in the USA. He is currently Professor of Law and Negotiation in graduation courses at the Getulio Vargas Foundartion - SP and Insper. He is a partner at Almeida, Costa e Pinheiro Sociedade de Advogados, with headquarters in São Paulo. He has been practicing law for more than twenty-five years, offering legal advisory and arbitration services in Brazil and abroad, and consultancy to companies and governments. He has an extensive experience in arbitration proceedings, including international ones. He taught courses and gave lectures in Brazil and abroad (Europe and Latin America) in the area of Business Law, Negotiation and ADR - Alternative Dispute Resolution. He was a judge (administrative judge) and president of the Fiscal and Tax Court of the State Treasury Department of São Paulo. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of Teleperformance S.A. from 2004 to 2014. He also serves as a lawyer in arbitrations administered by ICC - International Chamber of Commerce (France), LCIA - London International Court of Arbitration (England), Arbitration and Mediation Center Brazil -Canada Trade and the Arbitration and Mediation Center of BMF/Bovespa.
