Social and Legal Foundations Department
The Social and Legal Foundations Department (FSJ) is an interdisciplinary sector that has participated in education, research and consulting activities for companies, multilateral organizations and NGOs for more than 60 years (since 1954). Its professors give classes on undergraduate, graduate and executive education programs at FGV’s administration, law and economics schools.
The legal area prioritizes study of Brazilian corporate law, but also includes teachings on international law related to management and financial markets.
In addition to education and research activities, the faculty is qualified for international publications and it participates in global associations and working groups that address key topics for the management of companies in Brazil and emerging markets. Our professors are divided into:
- Sociologists: specialists in consumers’ behavior, marketing and critical development analysis;
- Political scientists: they analyze political risks, game theory, strategic planning scenarios, political institutions, political economy, and public sector finance;
- Philosophers: they explore aspects related to logic, conceptual analysis and ethics applied to management;
- Psychologists: they deal with psychology applied to management, including human resources management, leadership and critical studies in administration.
