Ligia Maura Costa

Ligia Maura Costa is a full professor at the School of Business Administration of São Paulo of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV EAESP) in the Department of Social and Legal Foundations and a lecturer at Sciences Po, Paris and Universität St Gallen, Switzerland. She is a free professor in international law from the Faculty of Law at the University of São Paulo (FDUSP) and has a doctorate in international law from the Université de Paris-X, where she also obtained a Master's Degree in International Trade Law (DESS). She has a post-doctorate degree in international negotiations at Sciences Po, Paris and was a visiting scholar at the University of Michigan Law School, Ann Arbor. She holds a Bachelor's degree in law from the São Francisco River (FDUSP). She is the author of several works, articles and book chapters published in Brazil and abroad, being the most recent work OMC and the International Law of Sustainable Development (São Paulo: Quartier Latin, 2013). She worked at the World Trade Organization (WTO) in the Legal Affairs Division. Professor Costa was a visiting professor at HEC, Paris, at Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management, SEM, Beijing, and at St. Petersburg State University GSOM (Graduate School of Management). She lectured and gave conferences in several countries, such as the United States, Mexico, Switzerland, Peru, South Korea, among others. She is a member of the Ligia Maura Costa law firm, in São Paulo and Paris. She has practiced law for more than twenty years, offering legal consultancy and arbitration services in Brazil and abroad, giving advice to companies, individuals, governments and international organizations and associations. She has an ample experience in arbitration proceedings, having been appointed an arbitrator in different jurisdictions.
