Perspectiva:
Métodos não resolvem problemas. Métodos oferecem diferentes tipos de explicação. Humanos resolvem problemas.
Abordagem:
A dificuldade essencial com a complexidade não está em sua resolução, pois a complexidade não é insolúvel. A complexidade é insolúvel apenas quando acompanhada de desordem. Conseqüentemente, o caminho para resolver a complexidade não está em abordagens focadas na solução de problemas. O caminho passa por abordagens que possam, antes de mais nada, transformar a desordem em alguma ordem. Isso implica a imposição de estrutura. Ergo: a necessidade de métodos de estruturação de problemas.
Foco:
Abordagens criativas centradas no ser humano que abordam metodologicamente problemas complexos por meio de pesquisa científica interdisciplinar, a fim de facilitar a tomada de decisão que resulta em mudança sistemicamente desejável e culturalmente viável.

- Primeiro a desenvolver uma metodologia completa para tomada de decisão na ausencia de fatos claros, em resposta ao desafio posto por Warren Bennis (University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business) e James O'Toole (University of Southern California, Center for Effective Organizations) em 2005 no Harvard Business Review (2006-2008).
- Primeiro a resolver o desafio combinatorial posto pelo famoso matemático Frank Harary na revista cientifica Nature durante a década dos anos 1960, com aplicações na tomada de decisão em situações de complexidade e incerteza (chefe de equipe, com J. Heck e A. Mrvar, 2018-2019).
- Primeiro a identificar dinâmicas de decisão estagnadas decorrentes de ciclos de feedback degenerativos no planejamento de infraestrutura ferroviária (2007-2009).
- Primeiro a desenvolver uma epistemologia e ética completas direcionadas ao planejamento sistêmico estruturado visando soluções sistêmicas para problemas sistêmicos (1998-2004).
