Kena Chaves

Doctor in Geography from São Paulo State University (UNESP/Rio Claro), Master's degree from the same university, specialist in Public Policies and Gender Justice (CLACSO), and Bachelor's degree in Geography from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). She has experience in research on Amazonian territories, collective knowledge construction, participatory methodologies, facilitation of working groups, network building, and team coordination. She leads research on territorial governance and social participation in the Amazon, socioterritorial infrastructure and just transitions, gender in contexts of forced displacement, territorial protection, and community leadership. She has been conducting research on forced displacement at FGVces since 2014, initially within the project "Indicators of Belo Monte" (2014-2015); led a working group on compulsory displacement as part of the initiative "Large Infrastructure Projects in the Amazon: lessons learned and guidelines" (2016-2018); was responsible for the articulation between FGVces and the National Human Rights Council to create the Working Front for the Protection of Rights in Contexts of Forced Displacement (2020-2021); since 2020, she has been part of the coordination team of the Independe Territorial Monitoring Network in the Amazon; and, since 2022, she has led the Collaboration Circle on Gender and Forced Displacement. She is also interested in audiovisual communication and photography.
