Sebastián Ronderos

Dr. Sebastián Ronderos holds the position of Full Professor in Social and Political Theory at the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV). He is also a non-resident research member of the DeSiRe (Democracy, Signification, and Representation) research network at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium). Grounded in post-structuralist and post-Marxist discourse theory, Sebastián's research operates at the intersection of rhetoric and policy. Specifically, his research delves into the discourses and practices through which political identities are (dis)articulated and examines their normative, ideological, and institutional impacts. His work contributes to various fields including populism studies, political participation, theories of democracy and ideology, and communication studies.
In addition to his research and teaching activities at FGV, Dr. Ronderos has also taught at other international institutions such as the University of Essex (U.K.) and the Universita Cattolica Del Sacro Cuore (Italy). He is a regular contributor to discussions on Latin American politics and populism in various international media outlets, including DW News, Agence France-Presse, Jacobin Magazine, and The Brazilian Report, among others.
