Biografia

Maria Alejandra Gonzalez-Perez (PhD) is a Distinguished Professor of Corporate Sustainability and Head of the Master’s in Sustainability at Universidad EAFIT, Colombia. Her interdisciplinary research explores the intersection of sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and the internationalization of emerging market firms—emphasizing the translation of global environmental goals into actionable local and national strategies. She served on the Global Council for SDG 1 (End Poverty) and was Vice-President of the Academy of International Business (AIB), where she also chaired the Latin America and Caribbean chapter.

A  scholar with over 90 peer-reviewed publications and 18 books, Dr. Gonzalez-Perez has contributed to global policy discussions, including biodiversity governance (IPBES), social impact valuation, and corporate engagement with sustainability transitions. Her work is rooted in applied social sciences and contributes to advancing empirical, policy-relevant knowledge on multi-level governance, especially in Latin America. With experience in visiting 100 countries, she brings a global yet locally grounded perspective to the CEPID’s mission of fostering innovative environmental governance in the Global South.
