Lea Malina

Graduated in Geography in the University of São Paulo, has a master's degree in the same institution. She has worked particularly on issues related to the Brazilian agrarian question, notably participating in an expert assessment on the demarcation of Guarani Mbya Indigenous Lands in Santa Catarina, and in planning and developing social policies in rural settlements and quilombola communities in the state of São Paulo, through the Itesp Foundation. She has experience with participatory research, and since 2019 has been a researcher at FGVces, where she worked on the Rio Doce Project, diagnosing damages with affected communities; and on a project assessing the non-monetary valuation of cultural ecosystem services associated with forest restoration in Pontal do Paranapanema, SP. Since 2023, she has been part of the Adapta Program, participating in projects focused on learning and challenges for disaster risk management in Brazilian municipalities; developing checklists for municipal preparation for adaptation and response to climate impacts and risks; supporting the strengthening of capacities for Disaster Risk Management, Climate Adaptation, and Resilience in Brazilian municipalities; and fostering arrangements and practices of social participation in public policies for climate adaptation and resilience.
