Biografia
Laura Silvia Valente de Macedo is a research associate at GVCeisa, with a postdoctoral specialization in urban governance and infrastructure through the Public Administration and Government Program at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV). She also serves as a collaborating researcher at the Global Cities Syntheses Center of the Institute of Advanced Studies at the University of São Paulo (IEA-USP).
She holds a PhD and a Master’s degree in Environmental Science from the University of São Paulo (USP), as well as a Master’s degree in Environmental Management from the University of Oxford. As an architect and consultant, Laura has worked in public policy and sustainability management since 1991, with a focus on climate change, sustainable consumption, and urban mobility since 2000. Between 1991 and 2012, she held executive positions in both federal and state governments in Brazil.
From 2002 to 2011, she was Regional Director for Latin America at ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability.
In a personal capacity, she has contributed to various expert committees, including FIFA's independent subcommittee on Human Rights and Social Responsibility since 2024, the Brazilian Panel on Climate Change (PBMC), and IES-Brasil at COPPE/UFRJ (between 2012 and 2013). She also served as Chair of the Board of Greenpeace Brazil in 2013. Since 2019, she has held the title of Honorary Advisor to ICLEI South America.
