Francisco Manuel Figueira de Lemos

Francisco Figueira de Lemos is an assistant professor at Escola de Administração de Empresas de São Paulo of Fundação Getúlio Vargas, in Brazil, and a visiting professor at Florida International University, in Miami, United States. He is also an associate researcher of the Faculty of Economics of Porto, in Portugal, as well as of the Department of Business Studies at the University of Uppsala, in Sweden. He holds a PhD in International Business from Uppsala University, Sweden, which curricula partially done at Harvard Business School, in the United States. He also has an MSc in Management and an MBA in Marketing, both from Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Portugal. He graduated in Civil Engineering by the University of Coimbra, in Portugal. His scientific work focuses on comparative multilevel studies concerning the institutional environment between countries, namely the factors which explain the performance differences of firms, industries, and national economies, in the scope of International Trade and Foreign Direct Investment. It has been receiving international recognition through several papers published in international journals and prizes of excellence, such as the Best Doctoral Proposal of the European International Business Academy/COST (2012) and Wallander Prize from Handelsbanken of Sweden (2013). In 2014, he was a finalist of the Gunnar Hedlund Award for the Best PhD Thesis in International Business. His professional path includes previous experiences as an entrepreneur, manager, and consultant, in the engineering and international business fields. He was also a cabinet member of the XVIII Constitutional Government of Portugal.
