Fernando de Souza Meirelles

He has been working for more than 35 years as a professor, executive and consultant. He is a Full Professor at GV (School of Business Administration of the Getulio Vargas Foundation - FGV-EAESP), teaching in all its programs: Graduation, Master, Doctorate, CEAG, MPA, MPGC, OneMBA, GVconsult, GVpec and GVnet. At GV, he was elected: Head of the Department of Education and Research in Computing and Quantitative Methods applied to the Administration for four terms, Executive Director and Dean - General Director (1999 to 2007). In this period of eight years, Prof. Meirelles dedicated himself to presiding GV. In the first term, he was responsible, among other things, for the following areas: Financial, Administrative, Human Resources, Information Technology, Consulting (GVconsult) and Executive Education (GVpec). In the general direction, he also presided over the Congregation (GV Assembly) and the Academic Management Council. He consolidated and expanded GV's internationalization process, reaching more than 80 alliances and partnerships with the best Business Schools in the world. During this period, GV expanded its pioneering and national and international excellence recognition, more than doubling its number of students, revenue, and financial results. He is the member of the board of directors or council of several companies, associations and organizations, among them: Abranet, ADVB, Angrad, Anpad, EMC Consultoria, FGV-EAESP, Incor and Fundação Zerbini, Instituto and Fundação Butantan, LIDE - Business Leaders Content), Prodesp, Promei Agropecuária and Sumaq (Alliance of the main Business Portuguese-Iberian schoold, president in 2007/08). He is a consultant for companies in the areas of Applied Information Technology and Strategic Planning, having participated and coordinated numerous projects in important private and public companies. His academic experience began as an assistant-student and manager of the academic center in the graduation course in Engineering at IMT-EEM. After his master's degree (MSc, Engineering Management) at Stanford University, he began teaching at the Mauá Engineering School. He holds a Doctorate in Administration from FGV-EAESP. He has participated in several graduation programs at the Harvard Business School, MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Texas at Austin. He was a visiting professor at the National Institute of Administration of the Council of Ministers of Portugal and Ad-hoc academic advisor to several organizations such as AACSB International (American Association of Business Schools), Capes, CGI.br (Brazilian Internet Steering Committee), CNPq; EFMD - Equis (European Foundation of Management Development), Fapesp and SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online). He has created and directed Continuing Education for Executives (GVpec) and Research and Study Centers at Mauá Technology Institute and GV, among others: GVcia - Center for Applied Information Technology and GVnet for Distance Education. He is the author of hundreds of articles, technical reports, surveys and publications, such as the books "Computing - New Applications with Microcomputers", Makron, McGraw-Hill/Pearson, 40th reprint, 2014; "Banking Technology in Brazil - a history of achievement, a vision of the future", FGV-RAE, 2010 (edition: Ciab Febraban - FGV, 2011 and HP, 2012); "Excel in practice", FGV Publisher, 12th edition, 2014, www.fgv.br/cia/excel and the publication "Annual Survey of IT Use", GVcia, 29th edition, 2018, www.fgv.br/cia/esquisa. In the 80's, he produced several pioneering technical publications in IT (IT, ICT and SI): Exame Informática, Info, PC Guide, Bits and Informatics Today. He created and coordinated, for five terms, the Administration of the Information area of ANPAD (Brazilian Academy of Management). He is a member of the Editorial Board of the main publications in Administration: Agroanalisys, BAR, Executive GV, RAC, RAE, LIDE Magazine and Universia Business Review.
