Elize Massard da Fonseca

Dr Fonseca has a PhD in Social Policy, University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom (2011). She also holds a PhD in Public Health (2008) and a Master's in Public Policy and Health (2005), both from the National School of Public Health, Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in public administration, where she is the leader of the Public Sector Policy and Economics area of study. Her research agenda is interdisciplinary, spanning political science, economics, and public health – with special focus on the political economy of pharmaceutical regulation in comparative perspective; integration of science, technology, innovation, and health policies; and health policies, particularly infectious diseases. She was a visiting researcher at the University of Michigan, University of Illinois, London School of Economics and University of California Berkeley. She advises students with interests in political institutions, comparative public policy, political economy, qualitative research methods. Students with sectoral interests other than health are also welcome.
