Bio
Flavio Moraes is a Professor of Finance at FGV EAESP. His research agenda focuses on corporate finance, banking, labor and finance, and law and economics. Broadly, he studies how different frictions — financial, institutional, and informational — affect firms, workers, banks, and markets. His work has been published in journals such as the Journal of Financial Economics and Applied Economics Letters. He holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from PUC-Rio (2004) and master's (2008) and doctoral (2018) degrees in Economics from FGV EPGE, with a visiting scholar position at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University (2017–2018), and a postdoctoral fellowship in Economics at FGV EPGE (2019–2024). Before joining EAESP, he was an Assistant Professor at FGV EBAPE (2024–2026) and at the COPPEAD Graduate School of Business, UFRJ (2023–2024), and he has also taught at FGV EESP (2020–2023) and Ibmec-RJ (2015–2016). Outside academia, he worked for Around six Years at Banco Itaú Unibanco, where he was coordinator of research and development in credit-risk modeling research and development, and as coordinator of economic studies to the City of Rio de Janeiro.
