Postdoctoral Fellowship FGV EAESP – We are inviting for applications

We invite applications for two postdoctoral fellowship associated with the project The Politics of the Health Industry Complex in Times of Change, funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), Brazil.

For the first opportunity, the postdoctoral fellow will develop research on the policy and politics to ensure access to pharmaceuticals in Brazil. Potential topics of research include, among others, the variation in COVID-19 vaccine eligibility (national and local), the Ministry of Health’s strategies for ensuring access to high-cost medicines, the politics surrounding the health technology assessment of new products, the strategies of pharmaceutical assistance in expanding access to inexpensive versions of older drugs, and the political relationships between government and non-state actors. All research topics will consider Brazil from a comparative perspective, identifying lessons applicable in both Brazil and beyond. The scholarship duration is 42 months. The second opportunity the postdoctoral can develop research: (i) the political economy of pharmaceutical regulation in the Global South, (ii) the politics of technology transfer between developers in the Global North and local pharmaceutical companies in the Global South, and (iii) the politics of government procurement in Brazil's health sector. All research topics will consider Brazil from a comparative perspective, identifying lessons applicable in both Brazil and beyond. The scholarship duration is 42 months.
