Scholarships and scholarship funds

FGV EAESP’s scholarship program for first-time undergraduates enables students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds — yet with high potential — to access an excellent education, fostering diversity and enriching the academic experience.

Refundable scholarship

Offered through the FGV Scholarship Fund, established in 1965 as a pioneer in providing educational loans in Brazil. Undergraduate students in Business Administration and Public Administration are eligible.

Refundable Scholarships (Funding)

Undergraduate students may apply for refundable scholarships (funding) under the following conditions:

  • Tuition and additional credits (20% to 70%)
  • Course materials
  • Meals
  • Housing Allowance for students living outside São Paulo
  • Transportation assistance
  • Exchange Program Scholarship (up to US$10,000) or Double Degree Scholarship (up to US$15,000)
  • Immersion Programs

Source of Funds

  • Donations from individuals and corporations
  • Repayments from graduates who previously received scholarships from the School

What is the difference between refundable and non-refundable scholarships?

The refundable scholarship is a loan, meaning it must be repaid to the Scholarship Fund under the conditions described in the Scholarship Notice. The non-refundable scholarship is a tuition discount granted to students with proven financial need.

What is the maximum income for applying for a refundable scholarship?

Refundable scholarships are granted only to students whose per capita family income is below 7.5 times the minimum wage. The current minimum wage is R$1,320.00 (one thousand three hundred and twenty reais). Therefore, to calculate the maximum family income eligible for a refundable scholarship, multiply the number of family members by R$9,900.00.

Are the scholarships for the whole course?

All scholarships are valid for six (6) months and may be renewed for equal and successive periods throughout the program. Students must apply for the renewal of refundable scholarships. Renewal is contingent upon maintaining a semester GPA above 6.0, demonstrating conduct consistent with academic standards, and remaining continuously enrolled.

Do scholarship students have access to the same resources as paying students?

Yes. There is no differentiation between the resources offered to scholarship holders and paying students.

 

Does FGV offer a scholarship to students who excel in a sport?

FGV does not have a specific scholarship program for athletes.

In addition to the scholarship, is there any specific aid for those who are not from the city of São Paulo?

Refundable scholarships for housing, transportation, meals, and course materials are available upon request. These scholarships must be applied for along with the scholarship and, like the refundable scholarship, they are financed—meaning they must be repaid to the Scholarship Fund.

Why do I need to provide a guarantor when applying for a refundable scholarship?

The returnable scholarship is a loan, meaning that it must be paid back to the Scholarship Fund, like a loan. For this reason, it requires a guarantor, as is the case with most loans.

Who can be my guarantor?

The guarantor for a refundable scholarship may be any person over 18 years of age with a proven income, except for the parents or legal guardians of unemancipated students under 18.

Merit Scholarship

Each semester, FGV EAESP awards merit-based scholarships of up to 100% of tuition to undergraduate students, with no repayment required, based on their entrance exam performance.

Merit Scholarship

The merit scholarship is awarded to the top four candidates in the entrance exam for each course (Undergraduate Business Administration and Undergraduate Public Administration) according to the following percentages:

  • 1st place – 100%
  • 2nd place – 50%
  • 3rd place – 30%
  • 4th place – 20%

There is no minimum score in the entrance exam or Enem to get a scholarship. However, as there is a maximum number of non-refundable scholarships, the candidates with the best performance in the selection processes have a better chance of getting them.

Do I have to be approved in the first call of the entrance exam to get non-refundable scholarships?

You don't have to pass the entrance exam in the first round to get a scholarship.

Is there any kind of competition or interview to apply for the scholarships?

For the merit scholarship, the benefit is automatic.

 

In addition to the scholarship, is there any specific aid for those who are not from the city of São Paulo?

There are refundable scholarships for housing, transportation, food and school supplies, which are available on request. These scholarships must be applied for together with the scholarship and, like the returnable scholarship, they are financed, i.e. they must be paid back into the Scholarship Fund.

A non-refundable scholarship designed to increase access to socially minoritized groups, which can cover up to 100% of the cost of the course.

Every semester, FGV EAESP offers a non-refundable scholarship (with no need to repay the school). It is granted on the basis of financial need for up to 100% of tuition fees for students entering undergraduate courses. In recent years, EAESP has offered approximately 40 undergraduate scholarships per year.

Source of funds

The number of scholarships in this category is defined at the beginning of the semester by the FGV EAESP Board of Directors and communicated to the Scholarship Fund Advisory Committee.

 

What is the maximum income for applying for a non-refundable scholarship?

Non-refundable scholarships are only awarded to students whose family income per capita is less than 1.5 minimum wages. The current minimum wage is R$1,320.00 (one thousand, three hundred and twenty reais), so you must multiply the number of people in your family by 1,980 to find out the maximum family income for a non-refundable scholarship. For example: if your family is made up of you, a sister and your father, the maximum family income to receive the non-refundable scholarship is 3 people * 1980 = 5940. If only your father and sister work, and their combined salaries are less than R$5,940.00, you are eligible for the non-refundable scholarship.

Is income the only factor for a non-refundable scholarship?

Income is not the only factor, but if your family income per capita is higher than 1.5 minimum wages, you will not be considered eligible for a non-refundable scholarship. On the other hand, income below this level does not mean that you will automatically receive a scholarship. In addition to per capita family income, the granting of non-refundable scholarships takes into account factors such as family composition, parents' professional placement, city of residence and monthly expenditure profile, among others.

Are the scholarships for the whole course?

All scholarships are valid for a period of 6 (six) months and can be renewed for equal and successive periods throughout the course, with students having to apply for renewal of non-refundable scholarships. Renewal depends on the student maintaining a semester average of more than 6.0; behaving in a manner compatible with academic standards; not interrupting their studies and not showing a significant change in their economic and financial situation.
