Social Fintech
This research seeks, in addition to deepening the definition of Social Fintech, to analyze the rapid expansion of these organizations and the promise of the social impact they can generate, especially given their high potential for financial inclusion. Fintech, an acronym for "Financial Technology", has been one of the most researched subjects on the Internet and comprises a universe of financial start-ups operating on digital platforms. These companies have attracted billions in investment and the Fintech universe is growing steadily. In February 2017, FintechLab, which monitors initiatives in this market, reported 247 initiatives in 10 different service categories (FintechLab, 2017).
Practical contributions include:
- The mapping of the unmet needs of users seeking financial inclusion;
- The possibility of informing the discussion on ethics in the use of personal data.
Academic contributions
- the literature review, which, unlike the others, will seek to offer a more critical view
- the definition of a new concept: Social Fintech.
To achieve the aim of this research, partnerships are planned with Fintech associations, such as ABCD (Brazilian Digital Credit Association), interviews with Fintech managers, participation in events, as well as interviews with users and potential users in order to understand their business model, how they raise funds for loans and how they deliver their services to consumers.
