The course seeks to go through the main fundamentals of microeconomics from its basic building blocks (consumer theory and the theory of the firm) to more complex issues involving general equilibrium and social welfare. The course focuses on issues that are crucial for students of public administration and government, thus leaving aside other issues that are less relevant to this specific area. Thus, the course goes into externalities in general and public goods in particular. The option to include social welfare is also part of this focus on public policy, given the relevance of this analysis to the area.
