This course aims to present, discuss and articulate visions of strategic business analysis and development aimed at competitiveness, enabled by the main trends in Information Technology (IT/IS). Although it is not a formal course on strategy, it involves the articulation of multiple strategic approaches, both those considered classical derived from Economics, such as sector analysis and transaction costs, as well as organizational approaches such as the view that technology can be a resource that can be conveniently combined with other types of resources (RBV) to obtain superior results, and even emerging approaches focused on platforms. In addition to technology, the course will visit some models focused on the appropriate use of information, such as the creation and development of knowledge and innovation, as well as aspects of social behavior to contribute to the understanding of the mechanisms for generating superior performance in organizations. It is hoped that, by the end of this course, participants will be able to identify, exemplify, explain and apply the main models that support the strategic use of technology for competitiveness in multiple business situations.
