Webinar addresses geoinformation, Brazilian cities and territories facing the climate crisis

The São Paulo School of Business Administration (FGV EAESP) will host a webinar on geoinformation, Brazilian cities and territories from a climate crisis perspective. The event will be held on June 28, at 10 am.
Brazilian society has been witnessing a series of catastrophes associated with extreme weather events. Cities are critically impacted, affecting thousands of people every year. Even more worrying is the fact that these extreme events tend to be more frequent and intense according to warnings from the scientific community. The challenges that the complexities of a diverse and unequal continental country pose are enormous.
The webinar will discuss how new possibilities in (Geo)Data Analytics can contribute to territorial and city planning actions in strengthening adaptation and mitigation actions against the effects of the climate crisis in Brazilian cities. It will also reflect on how Brazil is currently positioned in terms of training professionals and generating innovation and technology in the area of spatial data science.
The speakers will be: Antonio Miguel Vieira Monteiro (senior researcher at INPE's DIOTG and coordinator of LiSS), Rafael Pereira, (researcher and head of Data Science at Ipea), Nabil Bonduki (full professor of Urban Planning at the School of Architecture and Urbanism at USP). The event will be moderated by Frederico Roman Ramos (professor at FGV EAESP).
