Students immerse themselves in Parque das Neblinas: an organization dedicated to environmental preservation

Students from CEMS (alliance of 33 partner universities) of the Professional Master's in International Management (MPGI) at the São Paulo School of Business Administration (FGV EAESP) embarked on an insightful immersion session centered on the theme "Future Management Challenges".

The journey took them to Parque das Neblinas, an environmental reserve managed by Instituto Ecofuturo, a non-profit organization dedicated to the environmental preservation of palm hearts and their fruits. During this expedition, students had the opportunity to explore the park's trails to connect with nature in a way never experienced before.

In addition to the breathtaking natural environment, students were presented with an exciting challenge. They learned about the immense biodiversity and the Atlantic Forest biome that Brazil is home to. The students deepened their understanding of the Atlantic Forest, which is home to a significant number of endangered species.

Instituto Ecofuturo actively promotes ecotourism, environmental education, scientific research, sustainable forest management, reforestation efforts and community involvement in this unique ecosystem. This forest also functions as an educational space, highlighting the valuable lessons that nature can offer.

In this immersive experience, four distinct challenges came to light: financial sustainability, visitor involvement, assessment of environmental impacts and strengthening the role of rangers. The students presented some ideas and solutions to the challenges and discussed how to improve some areas of Parque das Neblinas.

1-  Financial Sustainability:  The challenge revolves around identifying strategies to reduce dependence on sponsors and, at the same time, explore international financing mechanisms to support ongoing initiatives.

2-  Visitor engagement:  The task is to devise effective marketing and communication strategies that increase weekday visitation and generate revenue, while being mindful of limited resources.

3-  Environmental Impact Assessment:  This challenge aims to quantify the value of the park for society and for Suzano, in addition to establishing significant impact indicators and key performance indicators (KPIs) to show the value of Ecofuturo and Parque das Neblinas .

4-  Improve the role of rangers:  In light of the global dynamics of rangers, this challenge seeks to expand Ecofuturo's presence and visibility in this area and take advantage of international best practices to drive improvements.

This immersive experience at Parque das Neblinas not only exposed students to the complexities of environmental management, but also emphasized the importance of sustainable practices and community involvement in preserving our natural heritage.
