Generative artificial intelligence presents challenges for learning, research indicates.

Generative artificial intelligence has been rapidly spreading in academic and professional environments, offering agility and support for decision-making. However, research conducted by Amon Barros of FGV EAESP, in partnership with Michal Izak, Ajnesh Prasad, and Martyna Śliwa, indicates that the uncritical use of these tools can compromise the quality of learning.

Published in the journal Management Learning , the study analyzes recent evidence on the impacts of generative AI at the individual, organizational, and social levels. According to the authors, the systems produce responses based on existing patterns, which can generate "illusory truths" and reduce the exercise of critical reflection.

The research also points to risks of excessive dependence, standardization of ideas, and weakening of human interaction in the educational process. For the researchers, the challenge lies in the conscious use of technology, combined with AI literacy and the promotion of critical thinking.
