Methodology for Calculating the Value of the Industrial Equilibrium Exchange Rate and Data
The Center for New Development Studies (FGVcnd) has created a methodology for estimating the value of the Industrial Equilibrium Exchange Rate. The function of this rate is to guarantee entrepreneurs who produce manufactured goods reasonable profitability to compete in the foreign and domestic markets.
The main input for this calculation is a historical series of the Industrial Equilibrium Exchange Rate Index (ICEI), which represents a real effective exchange rate calculated from the unit labor costs of Brazil's main trading partners in terms of trade in manufactured products.

O Centro de Estudos do Novo Desenvolvimentismo (FGVcnd) criou uma metodologia para estimar o valor da Taxa de Câmbio de Equilíbrio Industrial. A função dessa taxa é garantir aos empresários produtores de manufaturados uma rentabilidade razoável para competirem no mercado externo e interno.
O principal insumo para este cálculo é uma série histórica do Índice da Taxa de Câmbio de Equilíbrio Industrial (ICEI), que representa uma taxa de câmbio real efetiva calculada a partir dos custos unitários do trabalho dos principais parceiros comerciais brasileiros no que diz respeito ao comércio de produtos manufaturados.
