Strategic Human Resource Management studies the management of people and their contribution to the organization's performance and results. With the support of the Resource-Based Theory of the Firm, human resource management is characterized as a competitive advantage, perhaps the most sustainable over time for organizations. It is particularly relevant in the current context, where technology and innovation are bringing important and disruptive changes to the business environment.
The purpose of the course is to reflect on and discuss the main aspects of aligning organizations' strategic choices with people management decisions, based on the main texts published recently on the subject. The articles used are academic references, which should support discussions on people management practices. In the same way, the challenges and reality of the practices guide the search for a more structured reflection on the contribution of HRM to the results of organizations.
To this end, the first aim is to build a common basis for the terms used in strategic human resources management, from which participants can understand the challenges and possibilities of human capital in organizations. This will be followed by a discussion of the themes that are mobilizing the main discussions in the field of study - the strength of the HR system, the multiple actors and organization of the area, and the challenges of implementing HRM.
