The aim of this course is to expose students to empirical methods and econometric techniques for application in research projects in Finance, Controllership and Accounting. Topics of cross-sectional, longitudinal and panel data analysis will be covered. The following subjects will also be covered: simple linear regression, multiple linear regression, problems in linear regressions, and advanced topics in panel analysis. In addition, students will learn how to use econometrics in corporate decision-making based on statistical inference. The course will rely heavily on the use of the free statistical software R. As a result, students are expected to be able to solve exercises and estimate models using R. In this way, this subject is also fundamental for the preparation of research papers to be developed in future periods of the course.
