This course aims to provide a critical understanding of the economic and financial challenges and opportunities inherent in the transition to sustainability. Although desired and necessary, from an economic point of view this transition presents us with trade-offs that are usually absent from public debate. In the course, participants will analyze the theoretical and empirical bases of sustainable finance and debate the role of companies, the public sector and civil society in formulating medium- and long-term policies and strategies for sustainability.

The main axes of the course are the fundamentals of finance and the economic and corporate dilemmas involving the sustainability agenda; the role of companies and governments in issues such as climate, biodiversity and social agendas.
At the end of the course, participants are expected to be able to:

- Better understand the economic dilemmas of sustainability and build robust arguments to support strategic decisions in organizations;
- Understand and dialogue with financial instruments that are aligned with the sustainability transition agenda.
