A profession that brings together various sectors of knowledge such as business, HR, finance, marketing deserves to be remembered on September 9, Administrator's Day. The holistic view of the area, in different fields of activity, was one of the points that drew the attention of students studying Business Administration at FGV.

João Pedro Maia, 2nd period of Business Administration at FGV EPPG, Maiara Rodrigues da Silva, 8th period FGV EBAPE and Giordano Bruno Boff, 8th period of FGV EAESP report that the branch of business and the ability to generate value through management was the objective of choosing the area. "Administration has always been my passion, since I was little I used to say that when I grew up I would become a great businesswoman, so I always believed that doing a degree in Business Administration would help me achieve this dream," said Maiara (FGV EBAPE).

In addition to entrepreneurship, management works in the area of leadership and this was one of the reasons why João Pedro (FGV EPPG) became interested in the area, so more than the possibility of managing a company, the career provides direction and professional engagement in the area of people management.

Another area that was highlighted by Giordano (FGV EAESP) is business administration, a basic managerial activity of any society, capable of fostering the economic and social development of a country through the generation of jobs, income and profitability in companies.

Why did you choose to study Business Administration?  

João Pedro (FGV EPPG) - I chose to study Business Administration because I realized that there was a convergence between the profession of administrator, my talents and personal tastes. I understand that the challenge of Management is much more than just administering, but rather directing and engaging the people of your organization towards a defined goal. This process requires a holistic understanding of the macroeconomic landscape, organizational behavior, data analysis, and market trends. Being in touch with all of these activities makes me feel like I'm really contributing to society while doing something I have an aptitude for.

Maiara (FGV EBAPE) - Administration has always been my passion, since I was little I said that when I grew up I would become a great businesswoman, so I always believed that doing a degree in Business Administration would help me achieve this dream.

Giordano (FGV EAESP) - Since I was little I was encouraged, by an entrepreneurial family environment, to delve into the business world. Thus, in the course of my trajectory I developed an interest in the capacity of managers to generate value for society.

How does the profession you have chosen contribute to society?  

João Pedro (FGV EPPG) - The management profession plays a fundamental role in contributing to society through the application of principles and practices that optimize efficiency, organization and decision-making in various areas. Good managers are able to lead organizations to the maximum of efficiency and applicability, fulfilling market demands. The end result of this is the creation of new jobs, integration of social responsibility, stimulation of technological development and economic growth of society as a whole.

Maiara (FGV EBAPE) - Assuming that an Administrator is a great decision maker, I believe that we always have the chance to choose paths that positively impact society, whether in the business itself or in third parties.

Giordano (FGV EAESP) - business administration is a basic managerial activity of any society, capable of fostering the economic and social development of a country through the generation of jobs, income and profitability in companies.

How do you want to change the world with your profession?  

João Pedro (FGV EPPG) - Perhaps changing the world is too abstract a goal and difficult to measure. More pragmatic would be to understand the impact that good management leadership has on the environment in which it operates. I believe we can all change the world by doing our job to the best of our ability. As an administrator, my job is to create ways for everyone in the organization to know exactly how to perform their actions in the most efficient way. In this way, it is possible to cause a positive repercussion and encourage other organizations to follow the same phenomenon, causing a chain effect of high impact nationally and worldwide.

Maiara (FGV EBAPE) - A Administração nos possibilita atuar em diversas áreas, e eu desejo trilhar uma carreira com propósito, alinhada à minha trajetória de vida. Quero atuar em áreas que envolvam temas relacionados a ESG (boas práticas ambientais, sociais e de governança) e com ações de impacto social relevantes, com intuito de gerar transformações e conscientização. 

Giordano (FGV EAESP) - O mundo dos negócios proporciona o crescimento econômico de um país. Nesse sentido, almejo contribuir para o processo de geração de riqueza dentro das organizações, propiciando um ambiente de maior prosperidade.
