The FGV Analytics study center aims to create a research framework that accelerates the use of data and artificial intelligence tools for decision-making in the area of public security.

The Center was created through an extensive 5-year cooperation agreement between the Getulio Vargas Foundation and the São Paulo Security Department, with funding from the São Paulo State Research Foundation (FAPESP). The Center's researchers will work in co-production with the São Paulo Secretariat of Security and the police to develop tools to help prevent and control crime. The Center will also monitor the incorporation of new tools and technologies in order to assess their impact on police activity and thus maximize their benefits.

FGV Analytics' activities are structured on three fronts:

  1. Development of big data tools, artificial intelligence (AI) and decision support systems;
  2. Evaluation of public security programs;
  3. Structuring research networks and open innovation processes.
