Event promotes book launch on the last 50 years of Brazilian history
The School of Business Administration of São Paulo (FGV EAESP) launches the book “O Que é Meu”, Fósforo Editora, by the School's professor, José Henrique Bortoluci. Open to the public, the event will be held on May 17, at 6 pm, in the Salão Nobre FGV 9 de Julho. The idea is a conversation with the author, as well as testimonials from FGV course coordinators where Bortoluci teaches and from some of his former students.
In “O Que é Meu”, his debut book, Bortoluci pairs two narratives to retell the history of Brazil over the past 50 years. On the one hand, based on long interviews, reading the diary written by the mother and other documents, recovering memories of her childhood spent in Jaú (São Paulo) and the rescue of her ancestors, Italians and Spaniards who arrived in Brazil to work in the fields, Bortoluci tells the evolution of Brazil from the effort of the working class.
His father, José Bortoluci, studied until the fourth grade. At first, he devoted himself entirely to working on the farm; later he learned the trade of a mechanic and became a truck driver at the age of 22, a job that allowed his father to travel all over Brazil and be an active witness to the construction of works such as the Transamazônica highway, the Guarulhos Airport and other landmarks of the dictatorship motto , which was “O Brasil Grande”.
On the side of the sociologist trained with a doctorate abroad, Henrique dialogues with his father's speech, exposing this routine expressed in concrete words such as freight, quagmire, loads, asphalt and land with terms from academia, such as class struggle, surplus value, capitalism , development, authoritarianism, in a serene, extremely didactic way and, as a good observer, without any moral judgment.
