Webinar discusses the mistakes and successes of the new industrial policy

With a ten-year horizon, with investments of R$300 billion until 2026, the government launched Nova Indústria Brasil (NIB), in an attempt to reverse the deindustrialization process in the country. In this context, FGV IBRE and Folha de S Paulo promote the webinar “The New Industrial Policy: Errors and Successes”. The meeting will be held on February 28th, at 10am, on the FGV YouTube channel.

The participation of the Manufacturing Industry in Value Added (VA) at current prices reached 15.31% in 2023. However, at constant prices in 1995 there was even a decline compared to 2019.

The program was received, on the one hand, with criticism, especially regarding the fiscal impact that the measures presented could have, and on the other, with praise for the country's need to once again have a competitive industry.

The event will be moderated by Fernando Canzian, special reporter for Folha de S. Paulo. The speakers are Armando Castelar, associate researcher at FGV IBRE; Marcos Mendes, associate researcher at Insper and Nelson Marconi, associate professor at FGV EAESP and Coordinator of the Center for New Development Studies.
