FGV EAESP Opens International Call for Postdoctoral Fellowships in Analytics and Public Safety

FGV EAESP abre chamada internacional para bolsas de pós-doutorado em Analytics e Segurança Pública

A FGV EAESP is accepting applications for up to two postdoctoral fellowships affiliated with the Center for Analytics and Security Policy Studies, FGVanalytics. The initiative is part of a project supported by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) under its Science for Development Program.

Selected researchers will work at FGV EAESP in São Paulo on research focused on the use of data, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence in public safety, the evaluation of public policies, and the development of evidence-based solutions.

The work will be carried out in collaboration with researchers from the Center and the São Paulo State Secretariat of Public Security, including the development of studies, publication of scientific results, and dissemination of evidence to governments and civil society organizations.

The fellowship will initially be awarded for 12 months, with the possibility of renewal for a total period of up to 48 months, in accordance with FAPESP regulations. The position will be supervised by Professor João Luiz Becker.

Who can apply

Applicants who completed their PhD less than seven years before the start of the fellowship are eligible to apply. The fellowship requires full-time dedication to the project, subject to the conditions established by FAPESP.

Applications

Applications must be submitted by September 20, 2026, through an online form, along with:

  • an updated CV on the Lattes Platform, or an equivalent CV for international applicants;
  • a cover letter or email explaining how participation in the project will contribute to the applicant’s training and career;
  • a research work plan of up to 10 pages.

Interviews with shortlisted candidates will take place starting on September 21, 2026. The fellowship is expected to begin on October 1, 2026, or at a later date, depending on FAPESP and FGV administrative procedures.
