The seminar began with Professor Rasmus’ talk about his experience in the JSPS fellowship program and his subsequent academic career. This was followed by a remark from Katsuhiko Takahashi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary for International Economic Affairs. We also enjoyed an interesting presentation titled “Research experience at a young age determines a long research career” by Hiroyuki Enomoto (NIPR, National Institute of Polar Research).

After the break, a panel discussion with seven panelists was held on the theme titled Japan and Arctic Science, Technology and Affairs. Additionally, three students from UiT featured in a panel discussion, moderated by Federica Eyja Scarpa (UiT) about their experience of traveling to Japan. SATA 2.1 brought these and other PhD and MA-students together at the International Symposium on Arctic Research (ISAR) 8 in October/November 2025 in Tokyo and visiting Professor Enomoto Hiroyuki at National Institute of Polar Research. It was a valuable opportunity to exchange views on international collaboration and expand upon possibilities for further cooperation.
