Initiative Compliance in the Development of the Healthcare Professional
What is the Initiative Compliance in the Development of the Healthcare Professional?
The Initiative Compliance in the Development of the Healthcare Professional (Initiative) seeks to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the Agenda 2030, which emphasize the importance of education to eradicate poverty, to diminish corruption and bribery and to ensure better integrity and prosperity for all.
Why the Initiative?
The entry into force of the Anticorruption Law in Brazil brought an important incentive to the development of anticorruption instruments, such as the formulation of teaching materials in order to seek fighting the evil of corruption which festers the country. It is well known that common problems require common solutions too, especially when looking to expand the knowledge in matters of integrity, transparency, fighting against corruption and compliance. Only through collective action it is possible to potentialize the impact of individual actions. Based on that, the centers of studies FGVethics and FGVsaúde, with the support of the company Johnson & Johnson, united efforts to construct this Initiative, through a collective action which has as its goals to develop syllabi for tertiary level of education, together with academics, specialists and other actors of the healthcare system.
Who is it for?
To begin with, the target of the Initiative is to develop the professional of medical schools. Thus, this Initiative aims to build a culture of integrity by providing a syllabus on compliance issues for tertiary level of education and by promotion the incorporation of this material into the curriculum of medical schools across the country. Specifically, the Initiative Compliance in the Development of the Healthcare Professional will develop educational modules towards the study of integrity, transparency, anticorruption, and compliance in order to assist professors teaching these topics in medical schools. Thereby, it is expected that it will create a clearer understanding of these issues. The idea is that these educational modules would be exploited as autonomous teaching standards and used as teaching material for new courses or incorporated into courses that already exist. The educational modules will be available at no cost on the websites of FGVethics and FGVsaúde. With this Initiative, a greater number of universities and medical schools will be able to expand the knowledge of integrity, transparency, fighting against corruption and compliance.
Who can participate in this Initiative?
The healthcare sector has great diversity and multiplicity of agents, such as the healthcare plans and systems, the hospitals, the suppliers, the patients, the healthcare professionals, and the government. In the development of teaching materials, the Initiative Compliance in the Development of the Healthcare Professional intends to gather academics and specialists from Brazilian universities and medical schools, side by side to the main stakeholders – professionals from healthcare plans, hospitals, suppliers and government. The Initiative is a broad, collective, and plural process of dialogue, design and implementation of teaching materials in medical schools aimed at strengthening integrity, transparency, prevention and battling corruption towards compliance.
What are the next steps?
We invite everyone to join forces in the Initiative Compliance in the Development of the Healthcare Professional in the development of tomorrow’s leaders, initially in the medical field, enabling the new generation to face the global challenges of the contemporary post-pandemic world.
