
The initiative "Large-Scale Projects in the Amazon - Lessons Learned and Guidelines" has the goal to organize and highlight lessons learned and recommendations, both within public policies and in business practives, in order to establish a new kind of relationship between large enterprises and the territories which they targeted. Led by the Center for Sustainability Studies of the FGV EAESP (GVces) and by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group, this initiative engaged more than 300 people representing more than 130 institutions during 15 months to diagnose and to develop practical tools and a set of guidelines in six thematic fronts: territorial and land-use planing; financial instruments; capacity strengthening; human rights protection for indigenous peoples, traditional communities and quilombolas & children, adolescents and women; and legal removal of vegetation.
