Financial inclusion in Brazil has advanced significantly in the last decade, providing low-income individuals with significantly improved access to and usage of financial services. This progress has been driven by key policy in the social front, such as Bolsa Família, as well as innovations in the financial regulation, such as the instant payment system Pix. However, over indebtedness of the recently included in the financial system underscore the complexities and risks inherent to the expansion of financial services that pose challenges to the quality of the journeys of financial inclusion in the country.
This research seeks to document the journeys of financial inclusion for low-income individuals in Brazil by analyzing:
