Integrated Education for Sustainability - Guide of Fundamentals and Practices - Version 1.0

Within the understanding that sustainability should be incorporated into the current model of education, international organizations, business and civil society, begin to generate a demand for a new educational proposal, which takes into account the challenges of the 21st century.

To meet this demand, and complementing the intentions behind the Global Compact, the United Nations developed the PRME - Principles for Responsible Management Education, an initiative that aims that the world business schools gradually integrate the issues of corporate social responsibility and sustainability into their curricula, research, classes, methodologies and institutional strategies.

Following its tradition of pioneering and excellence in education, the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) became a signatory to the PRME in 2009 and, through its Sustainability Studies Center (GVces), created the FIS - Integrated Education for Sustainability, in the same year. Since its origin, the FIS has been applied in FGV-EAESP as an elective offered to students from the 5th semester of Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics and Law.

We understand that FIS principles and practices can be implemented in other public and contexts, even if adjustments need to be designed and tested. For this reason, we developed this Guide.
